We don't expect athletes to be smart, which is why we seldom read about them, and were pretty unsurprised when Detroit Tigers outfielder Gary Sheffield recently said the reason pro teams hire Latino players is they're easier to control than Black players. Chicago White Sox manager Ozzie Guillén retorted that Latinos are hungrier when they get to this country. In place of such a mind-blowing touché, we propose our own response to Gary: "But what about Blatinos?" Woulda stumped that meathead for the rest of the season.
