A-Rod Won’t Hack It In October
10 September 2007, 3:23 PM. By Alejandro de la Cruz

Sometimes we just want to rant at your expense. So let’s just make this simple: there is hardly anything Alex Rodriguez can do at this point that will make even the most fickle of Bronx fans shun him from baseball idol. The Rod-man has most New Yorkers sucking on his talent like they suck the cream filling from a canoli. His coach loves him, his teammates are mesmerized, and he even has that schmo Gary Sheffield marveling at his work. A-Rod’s September stats are as jaw-dropping as Vida Guerra’s culo, but don’t mistake his September highlights as something greater to come.
Machochip thinks one thing, and one effin’ thing only: A-Rod will choke in October…like for sure. And while we diligently salute the man who got away with plugging a blond strippers hoo-haw (kudos our brotha), we’re not shying away from reminding A-Rod of one thing: .071.
That was A-Rod’s batting average in the 2004 playoffs. Yes, its a number that makes A-Rod shudder like we all do when there is a close-up of Joe Torre’s ugly mug. We’ve seen it so many times before: great season, great memories, and then nada. So, we’re vouching that this historic season of A-Rod’s is merely a precursor to his ship sinking soon.
Rodriguez is likely to give us baseball fanaticos 800 homeruns, but fall short of a championship for himself. Sound familiar? Thank heaven we’re not Yankee fans, (did we say that outloud?).
