There’s been a general consensus in the world that Americans like to overstay their welcome (even when they weren’t invited in the first place). And nowhere is that more apropos than the situation we’re dealing with in… Puerto Rico?

Dr. David Bernier, the island’s Secretary of Sport, outlined a proposal he believes will help baseball in Puerto Rico — and it starts with a 10-year moratorium to the application of the First-Year Player Draft for Puerto Rican baseball players.
“At this point, after the Draft’s establishment, Puerto Rico is not a continent nor is part of the world recognized by the Draft.”

Regarding that last point—you know, Puerto Rico, if you want to become the 51st state, this isn’t the way to do it. Mainlanders love drafts—draft beer, fantasy football drafts, chilly rooms where windows are left open. Go ahead with this and Guam will get a star on the flag before you do.
