A Sheffield United fan was so disgruntled with his team getting spanked by Arsenal yesterday, that he decided to run on the pitch and throw his scarf at coach Sheffield Bryan Robson. Is that a metaphor for something? The incident occurred after Sheffield United’s Carling Cup match against “The Gunners”, which saw them thrashed 3-0. Apparently British fans don’t really know any other way to react. But Robson wasn’t too fazed by the fans futile attempt.

“I think it was a bit unjustified,” said Robson. “Arsenal are doing that to teams like Liverpool and Newcastle. I made eight changes myself because of cup-tied players and injuries to give people a chance who have done quite well as squad players.[...] It doesn’t bother me. It’s only a single fan.”

We wonder if this sort of thing will catch on in the MLS. We’re sure there were a few fans who wanted to pummel Frank Yallop (Los Angeles Galaxy coach) with something heavier than a scarf. Don’t get us started on what we wanted to throw at Beckham.
