Major League Baseball’s new home run king, Barry Bonds, has been indicted on perjury and obstruction of justice charges for lying during his testimony in the BALCO case. Essentially this means that Bonds supposedly knew he was taking steroids when he said he didn’t, and this has pissed off a lot of people (but not this guy). Even the President of The United States weighed in, apparently taking a cue from the British PM by taking time addressing issues he needn’t be.
“The president is very disappointed to hear this,” Bush spokesman Tony Fratto said. “As this case is now in the criminal justice system, we will refrain from any further specific comments about it. But clearly this is a sad day for baseball.”
The San Francisco Giants, his old team, also called this a “sad day” for baseball. Why, because someone we always suspected of taking steroids lied about not taking them? Seems like pretty standard operating procedure. Whenever they take away the all-you-can-eat sections at Dodger or Brewer stadiums-that’s a sad day in baseball.
