Australians have been hooting and hollering for their boy David Beckham this weekend, and he finally gave them the show they’d paid for. Fortunately for the 80,000 plus fans, he dished out a signature free-kick to give the Galaxy a fighting chance. Unfortunately for LA, they were out of the game before the half ended. Sydney FC went up 3-0 within the first half hour and it was all over from there. Hey, at least the game didn’t count for anything. Yet, even across the globe, the Galaxy appeared noticeably weary and downright sloppy But what do you expect from a team enjoying 73 degree weather during Christmas. Bastards. Yet, Beckham thought it was a fabulous event.

“It was an entertaining match for the 80,000 fans. That’s what they wanted, to see some goals and to see a bit of an exhibition — they got that.

“I was really happy to score tonight because of the amount of fans and the attention that there has been on myself and this game,” Beckham said. “It’s nice once again to get a free kick — people expect you to do it every time from that position. I practice it enough.”

And you’d probably score a lot more if your ankles weren’t as flimsy as a wad of play-doh. At least the cancer kids are all smiles now.
