Manchester United star Wayne Rooney carried the light heavyweight champ’s belt into the ring before a June fight with Luis Castillo. Now, David Beckham and Hitman Hatton have been exchanging text messages as the pugilist prepares for his next fight with Floyd Mayweather, and the British bruiser couldn’t be more smitten.

“Sometimes you exchange numbers and tell people you’re there if they need anything, but the last thing I expected was a text from David asking ‘How’s your training going champ?’
