Boxers Exchange Harsh Words, One Offers Free Cosmetic Surgery

It’s nice to see that boxers from the British Isles aren’t all texting nancys. Actually, Welsh fighter Joe Calzaghe is the complete opposite, against anything of brevity. He responded thoroughly to taunts from American pugilist Bernard Hopkins, who threatened to give Calzaghe a “free facelift” if he ever fought him.

“I’ve told him I’ll fight him anywhere, any time, and I gladly accept his offer of a free facelift if I come to America. The only thing is, I will leave the ring as I enter it - the same good-looking kid. Hopkins is the king of talk. He’s boxing’s version of Oprah Winfrey and they should give him his own TV show, because he loves the sound of his own voice. The guy can talk forever, but that is all he can do.”

And, um, he continued talking…

“He says he wants to fight me, but does he really want an ass-kicking from me? Because that is what the man is going to get, plain and simple. All I want is his name on my unblemished record with a nice big W KO 6 next to it.”

Yes, it’s nice to see a boxer keeping his words to a minimum, especially as he’s calling out another for the same thing. We’d like to see these two fight to see if they’d shut up long enough to throw a punch.
