Matchday 5 has come to an end, but not without it’s fair share of shockers. It took a whole 90 minutes, but Cristiano finally knocked in that goal we predicted. Barcelona vs. Lyon was a bit of a shocker, but that’s Catalunya for ya. The soccer gods have definitely been messing with us the last week and the biggest sike tonight was Arsenal’s fall against Sevilla. What in the world happened there? Maybe the spirit of Antonio Puerta helped guide the Sevillan’s to victory? Maybe Sevilla’s just a lot better without Juande Ramos. Ding, ding, ding!
Inter Milan V Fenerbahce: 3-0

  • It’s apparent to us right now that the information we received from our secret source was as good as aged skim milk. Roberto Carlos and Alex were no where to be found and the Turks stumbled, leaving room for PSV Eindoven to have a shot at escaping the group stage. Why were we rooting for the Turks? Well we weren’t really, but Inter really gets under our skin. Sometimes.

  • Lyon V FC Barcelona: 2-2

  • Our “2-1″ prediction with Messi and Iniesta was right on target: that’s until punk-ass Juninho converted a penalty kick ten minutes from time. But Messi converted the equalizer and sent FC Barcelona to the next round. He probably saved Frank Rijkaard’s coaching job as well, because a loss would have probably meant that tenure of his would get snipped as quickly as a bull’s balls during Semana Santa in Spain. No lie.
  • Manchester United V Sporting Lisbon: 2-1

  • Sporting Lisbon took the lead after 21 minutes, but the foreigners were working it for Ol’ Fergie tonight. Carlos Tevez jump started the Man Utd. comeback with an equalizer in the 61st minute; and Cristiano Ronaldo added the game-winner in the 90th to stun a volatile Sporting side. Did we call a Ronnie score? Um, yeah. We totally did. You can say goodbye to all other participants in Group F now.
  • FC Sevilla V Arsenal FC: 3-1

  • Ok. What the hell happened here? Arsenal go into this match with an unbeaten streak that goes all the way to April, and they stumble to Sevilla? The ghost of Antonio Puerta is totally around. And ex-coach Juande Ramos sucking it up in Tottenham is probably helping as well.
