A charity soccer game was held in Hollywood this weekend to help raise funds for people affected by California’s recent wildfires. Among the participants was Los Angeles Galaxy superdud David Beckham. Among the spectators was his national team coach Steve McLaren. What the hell was he doing there?

The England coach flew over to check on the fitness of the 32-year-old, who scored twice in LA Galaxy’s 12-4 win over a team featuring celebrities.

Beckham juked past a slightly stoned Cheech Marin, diced his way through a defense consisting of Lindsey Lohan, Britney Spears’ kids and a raging Danny Bonaduce, then shot a blazing goal past “Without A Trace” actor Anthony Lapaglia. The latter is actually true. Hey England. Still wondering why your team hasn’t qualified for Euro 2008 yet?
