What do you do when your country is one-game away from a major collapse? You ask a friend for some help. England are on the verge of not qualifying for Euro 2008, so Liverpool duo Peter Crouch and Steven Gerrard have asked fellow Liverpool teammate Yossi Benayoun for a simple favor. Benayoun plays for the Israeli national team that takes on Russia on November 17th. If Israel wins, then England have a shot at qualifying. So step it up Yossi and knock in some goals!
“Me and Stevie have been getting into him,” Crouch told his club’s website. “We’re trying to keep him fresh for the Israel game. Hopefully he will do us a job against Russia. Of course, now it would be great to see him make himself a hero to the England fans as well as the Liverpool ones.”
England and their mind games. Maybe they could win some matches if their coach wasn’t so concerned with dead weight in the lineup. Hey England, sure you don’t just wanna recruit Yossi to help take on Croatia too?
