Floyd Mayweather is a lot of things—Fashionable Mo’Fo, talented boxer and horrible rapper. But has he ever been the good guy? Mayweather says that while he’s usually pinned as the heel, this upcoming fight with Textin’ Ricky Hatton makes him want to be rooted for, instead of booed.

“Everybody’s entitled to judge a person how they want to do, but I’ve got a good heart… I never did anything illegal, and all I did was go out there to dedicate myself to the craft of boxing. I conduct myself like a gentleman… When I fought Oscar de la Hoya I was the bad guy, but when I fought Zab Judah I was the good guy because he was even worse than I was.”

Of course you were the bad guy against Oscar, Floyd, you were threatening to hit a woman, and gentlemen don’t do that. They don’t trash talk, either, but hey, no one’s perfect.

“Ricky Hatton is not a trash talker, Floyd Mayweather has been a trash talker for over a decade. I’ve been in 18 or 19 championship fights and I know what it takes.”

There’s something we never understood; if you’re talking trash in the third person, can you inadvertently talk trash about yourself? Maybe we could ask the genteel Mr. Mayweather over for a spot of tea to discuss.
