The rumors have been whizzing by us all year about where Juan Roman Riquelme was going to end up. Looks like Villareal FC are extremely comfortable in the number two spot this year because they won’t be getting to number one anytime soon. Villareal and Argentine squad Boca Juniors have agreed to deal for Riquelme, ending the tumultuous feud between team and player.

Villarreal has reached an agreement with Argentina midfielder Juan Roman Riquelme on Monday that will allow him to join Argentine club Boca Juniors.
Villarreal directors Jose Manuel Llaneza and Miguel Perez are expected to meet with Boca Juniors in Buenos Aires on Wednesday in order to complete the transfer. Even without Riquelme in the midfield, Villarreal has gotten off to a good start in La Liga play, winning nine of its first 13 games and sitting just one point behind league-leaders Real Madrid.

Something tells us that’s vastly going to change in the next few weeks. We’re estimating about a thousand foot drop into the depths of middle tier standings for “El Submarino Amarillo”. (That’s “The Yellow Submarine” for ya’ll non-bilingual folk.) So, tell us again why it’s wise to relinquish one of the hottest midfielders in the sport?
