Kaká, Italy’s highest paid player, recently disclosed his concern over the latest episode of soccer violence in Italian football. It didn’t take too long for the Brazilian star to consider jumping ship and heading towards calmer waters–ahem, cue Madrid. The AC Milan midfielder doesn’t want to stick around if innocent fans are going to be shot every now and then. He may belong to Jesus, but he doesn’t belong to Italy.

“Could I leave Italy? Yes, if the episodes of violence continue,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport.

We guess that rules out a return to Brazil.

“The football I love is happiness. At this time, I can’t enjoy myself. Should there be big problems that would prevent me doing my job in an adequate way, anything could happen. There is the possibility of going to another country. I’m also worried for my family’s safety. My wife and parents frequently come to the stadium. How can you be tranquil in this way?”

We felt the same way after a San Francisco Giant’s fan skewered a Dodgers’ fan a few years back. Yet, we decided we wouldn’t be swayed by the violence and instead fought fire with fire. Well, it was more like plastic beer bottle to plastic beer bottle. But Italian soccer has been going down the crap shoot for years, so it’s time to trade lasagna bolognese for jamon iberico Kakacito.
