After the tragic shooting of a 26 year-old Italian soccer fan on Sunday, AC Milan superstar Kaká has voiced his concern that in the future, great players from around the world are going to steer clear from Italy.

“All these acts of violence risk distancing the top players from our Serie A. The world-class players want to play in great teams and in Italy there are some of the most prestigious clubs in the world. But they are also looking for joy and enthusiasm.”

It’s hard to even sit through an Italian game these days without wondering if the ref has 20,000 euro stuffed in his back pocket. We couldn’t imagine deciding to play there. But weren’t there a few other, minor, events that should of halted anyone from playing in Italy?

Kaká also acknowledged it is another setback for the game in Italy, following on from the match-fixing scandal, dubbed Calciopoli, and the killing of a policeman earlier this year.
The Brazilian added: “First Calciopoli, then the police officer killed in Catania. Now this tragedy. A fan killed while he was going to see a game.
“Italy is losing credibility. The list is becoming too long.”

Can we add Italian soccer floppers to that list? We think this is Kaká stating, “Hey Real Madrid. On second thought…”
