We haven’t talked about our favorite Argentine-loony in quite some time. Fortunately, Diego paid a surprise visit to the Boca Juniors camp today to try and instill some extra motivation for the team’s upcoming matches. That’s rich. It’s been rumored that Boca coach Miguel Angel Russo will be axed if his club fall short of victory at the World Club Championships in Japan next month, and Diego wanted to provide some moral support. Checking off on the “12 steps”, Diego?
I told Miguel to stay calm because [being fired] doesn’t happen after you win a championship. It doesn’t happen to [Bernd] Shuster, [Carlo] Ancelotti, or [Frank] Rijkaard.
Unfortunately, Diego Maradona maintains the memory of a goldfish. Because last we checked, Fabio Capello was the last major coach axed after winning a championship with Real Madrid last year, so he’s obviously on crack. Never leaving a stone unturned (true sign of a media-whore), Diego decided to weigh in on Juan Roman Riquelme’s dilemma with Spain club Villareal.
“It is the right of every player to ask for as much [money] as he wants. After the way he suffered, what I asked of Roman was to never apologize to anyone. We saw that they used him and they would say ‘Leave to your country, go home!’”
Are we will talking about Riquelme? Diego. Diego! Snap out of it man.
