The MLS is confused. When it comes to their teams, they seem to get it wrong. This year, a butt load of money was allowed–with major exception–to exchange hands between the Los Angeles Galaxy and David Beckham. Look how that turned out. So what does a team like the Kansas City Wizards get for making it to the playoffs this year and employing “Comeback Player of the Year” Eddie Johnson? Only the finest ballpark in minor-league baseball. That’s right folks. The Wizards will be playing the next two seasons (2008-2009) on the lush greens of CommunityAmerica Ballpark; which is home to Double AA team “The T-Bones”, “Titan Fighting Championships”, and something called “Freaker’s Ball”.

Located near the Legends at Village West and the Kansas Speedway, the stadium will provide an intimate, family-friendly atmosphere and allow for exciting pre-game and post-game activities for fans of all ages.

Will there be magic, ponies, and fun rides too? Tell us brilliant soccer guru.

“The Wizards soccer team is a great attraction for Kansas City. So are Village West, The Legends and CommunityAmerica Ballpark. Combining these world-class attractions is a win for soccer fans and all Kansas City residents…Our fans’ gameday experience should include both pre-game and post-game festivities. With the Legends right next door, we have a unique opportunity to introduce our fans to this extended experience.”

Further investigation reveals the over-hyped “Legends” they keep mentioning is a shopping mall. So when did Major League Soccer induct the holiday destinations guide manual to promote teams? MLS, we want soccer, not cologne.
