Even if the Los Angeles Lakers lose their most prized commodity–Mr. Kobe Bryant–they can rest assured that they’ll have a prolific coach to guide them through the horrendous years that await them. Phil Jackson has signed a two-year extension with the Lakers, guaranteeing his tenure until 2010. He’ll get a meager $2 million raise, but he’s allowed to keep his girlfriend, and owner’s daughter, Jeanie Buss. The “Zen master” pleaded the fifth, but his agent wasn’t as shy.
“Everyone connected with Phil is pleased with his decision, something that only he could make after considering all aspects of what it means to be a head coach,” said Jackson’s agent, Todd Musburger. “Obviously, he’s up for it. There is a spring in his step.”
That’s amazing because Phil’s toting two him replacements, a dwindled ego and a girlfriend who’s probably to busy to rub his boo-boo. That visual hurt. At least Los Angeles can rest easy tonight because they have a permanent fixture to unleash their frustrations and misery on for the next few years.
