Former England national coach Sven Goran Eriksson has a profound theory concerning the impatience of FA officials when it comes to keeping their coaches. Turns out his expertise on the issue can be correlated to his time in Italy and Portugal, where the “Latins” are usually more prone to axeing their coaches instead of dealing with them.

“I’m not surprised (by the recent departures) because I’ve been working in Italy and Portugal for many years and it’s very normal there,” he told the club’s official website.
“But I am surprised because it’s happening in England. What I always thought was that English fans and directors are more patient than the Latin part of the world but we are becoming Latin here as well.

As Latin as caked on tanning spray on pasty skin, maybe.
We’d like to specify that he’s not talking about Latinos around the globe because he obviously has no experience coaching anywhere but Europe. Yet, we wonder if there’s anything that merits truth in his statement? Mexico’s former head coach Ricardo La Volpe was axed quickly after the World Cup; and his replacement, Hugo Sanchez, has already been given a must-win-or-die ultimatum each time Mexico hits the pitch. Even Brazil’s national team went through four coaches in six years. Argentina isn’t too far behind with four coaches in ten years. Oh, we get it now. Eriksson isn’t concerned with winning. He’s concerned with tenure. Someone’s still bitter about his demotion because last we checked, Italy won the last World Cup, Brazil before them and France prior to Brazil. Them Latins and their impatient ways.
