In the past two weeks, every other sports magazine cover has highlighted the supposed new basketball rivalry between college UCLA and USC. Well, this news adds even more heat. Percy Romeo Miller, aka rapper Lil’ Romeo and son of ’90s Hip Hop superstar Master P, has signed on to play point guard with the Trojans for next year.
Before you cry out “connections!” realize that lil’ Miller was a top-15 point guard recruit. Let’s hope he does better than his dad, who tried out twice with NBA teams before realizing he stunk… so he bought a CBA team to play for.
“This is the most important thing I’ve had to do and hopefully it sends a message to kids across the country that education is more important than money,” [Percy Romeo] Miller said at the news conference.
“Getting a college scholarship is more important than winning an American Music Award, and I plan to be the best student-athlete I can be at USC.”
So, if getting a college education is better than getting an AMA, does that mean winning a Grammy is like getting a master’s degree? We never did do well in our logic courses.
