As the tea leaves predicted earlier, France Football magazine’s Golden Ball award was passed yesterday to AC Milan’s Kaká. He edged out noted author and Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo and Francesco Totti’s choice, Lionel Messi.

“This is very special for me - it culminates an astonishing year for me,” Kaká said. Second place went to Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo with Barcelona’s Lionel Messi placing third.

Me Me Me. What about the team, Kaká? Aren’t they just as important as the individual in soccer? Oh, you’re getting to that.

“It’s great to be part of a team that wins… I won the Champions League and was the competition’s top scorer… That’s what made the difference with the others. That is the key. You have to play in a winning team.”

Oh… kay? Kids, look out for Kaká’s new inspirational book, The Key To Being The Best Is Playing On A Winning Team available now for Christmas.
