If you’re flipping around TV Sunday night and keep on seeing the Pats/Giants game, don’t worry, your set isn’t broken. For the first time ever, the NFL will be showing the same game on three channels-CBS, NBC and the NFL Network-simultaneously. Why? Part of it has to do with the league’s crazy television rules, the other is that the league wants as many people to see the Patriots go 16-0 as possible. Gee, we wonder why they weren’t able to take care of this for the other games we missed because they were on the NFL Network.
“We have taken this extraordinary step because it is in the best interest of our fans,” commissioner Roger Goodell said…” We appreciate CBS and NBC delivering the NFL Network telecast on Saturday night to the broad audience that deserves to see this potentially historic game.
NBC was scheduled to air “Dateline NBC” and a repeat of “Law & Order: SVU” during the time slot. CBS was set to broadcast the movie “Good Night, and Good Luck” and “48 Hours: Mysteries.”
Whew! Thank God it wasn’t Law and Order: Criminal Intent they were delaying. If you think NFL fans are rabid, you should see how pissed off the Vincent D’Onofrio fan club gets once you cross them.
