In a press conference for what is proving to be the most fun boxing’s seen since Oscar put heels on, Ricky Hatton and Floyd Mayweather started throwing verbal jabs at each other. Sure, it’s par for the course, but it took a turn for the “huh?” when Pretty Boy called out Hatton for… um… never seeing his father get shot.

“I don’t think Ricky Hatton’s ever seen his father shot. I don’t think Ricky Hatton’s been on drugs, I don’t think his dad’s been to prison. I come from a neighbourhood where people dying is normal. To come from that life and fight my way to the top, I think that’s one hell of an accomplishment.”

Well, if we learned anything from Rocky III, it’s that boxers are made by working out in dank basements and doing pull-ups using meat hooks. They aren’t made out of obvious daddy issues. And not that we discount Floyd’s upbringing for making him hard, but the ‘hood doesn’t have claim on people dying. Everyone dies, even Ricky Hatton’s doily-using, Beckham-texting ass.
