Zinedine Zidane has confirmed an interest in rejoining Real Madrid “in the near future” as a youth coach. Trust us: we read half the headline and almost partook in a celebratory coffee dousing. Apparently, Zidane has struggled to come to terms with his sudden retirement last year and he’s trying to crawl back into the spotlight after, you know, he skull-rammed Marco Materrazi in the World Cup.
Zizou has not been included in any football project since his sporting retirement, but claims he could work again for La Casa Blanca.
“I did not plan anything but maybe it will become reality,” he told the French press. “I cannot see myself in an office or as a coach.
“For the moment I know what I have to do and I want to profit from what I could not do while I was playing.
“When the moment will come I will be happy to be with the kids and to give back to football what it made me learn.”
We don’t know exactly what the means, but look, just throw on some cleats, spit shine the forehead and get on the pitch. If Kobe Jones can play until he’s fifty, then Zidane can surely find a way to play until the next time he goes crazy. Right guys? Right! Yeah.
