Brazilian Cicinho Lays His Credibility To Rest

It’ll be another month until Champions League returns, but smack talk and unrealistic gibberish from overzealous players can always be counted on. Note ex-Real Madrid defensive midfielder Cicinho. His recent declaration that Real Madrid are 90% certain to exit Europe’s finest tournament is both comical and sad. Ok, it’s really just sad.

“Roma will eliminate my former team. I will say it’s 90% certain, but only 10% that Madrid will go through. Nothing is well in Spain.”

That’s a rough translation, but in any language, it’s all a load of bull. Real Madrid aren’t playing the prettiest soccer in the world, but they are sure playing the most effective. And the results don’t lie.

The fact is, Cicinho’s predictions are negligent of reality. It’s definitely possible for Real Madrid to lose, but it’s also possible that Roger Clemens is telling the truth about steroids. How probable is it that Roma will win? As probable as it is that a the sun will eventually burn out. We really love any excuse to rant about Champions League. Only 40 days to go!
