Roy Jones utilized some of his cock-fighting expertise during a press conference to promote his fight against Felix Trinidad January 19th. He declared himself a better fighter than Oscar De La Hoya and Fernando Vargas, but who isn’t these days? Combined, those two have a worse record than Rocky before Apollo.

When asked the question what does a win in this fight mean for him, Jones Jr. responded with: “A win doesn’t mean much. He’s got to go. He’s got to go in fo’. Just to win the fight would not be good enough for me at this time. He has to go. I really don’t care when; he’s just got to go.”
Jones Jr. then added: “The way I see it, Bernard Hopkins is not as good as me. Oscar De La Hoya is not as good as me. Fernando Vargas? Not as good as me. None of those guys can be my equal, and they stopped him [ Trinidad ].

So where exactly is Trinidad going to go? We assume the canvas, but someone should assert to boxers that clarity is quintessential in getting your point across. Oh who are we kidding? When you have Don King standing next to you to clear things up, then it’s all to shit.

Promoter of the event Don King also chimed in: “That is why I am so honored and pleased that I am a great part of this event. I think you are all going to see a new Roy Jones. This is role-model time, when everyone says ‘No, you can’t,’ you say, ‘Yes, I can.’”

Someone please tell us he didn’t call Jones a freakin’ role-model.
