As far as we know, there’s no such thing as a Hall of Fame in Spanish soccer. But that doesn’t mean players can’t continue their legacy elsewhere. Iker Casillas’ recent form is on the fringe of becoming some legendary shit. He’s 26, but already regarded as the best goalie in the biz. Real Madrid want to tie him up for the remainder of his career, but Casillas has taken it upon himself to declare his allegiance to the club that has fostered his career since he was a wee little baby. Casillas told Onda Cero:
“I want to be president of Real Madrid. When I finish [playing soccer], I’d like to continue, first as manager…God willing, like Camacho, Del Bosque, or Irureta. Little by little I’ll get to be president. I’ve been with Madrid since I was eight years old, that’s why I’d like to be president.”
At the rate he’s headed, Real Madrid fans would oust shutter-upper King Juan Carlitos and place the crown on Iker. If not, Iker should make sure he follows in the nimble footsteps of Lorenzo Sanz; instead of the megalomaniac that was Florentino Perez. Actually, a combination of both would be amazing to watch.
