Times, they are a’changin’ for women in the sports broadcasting industry. They’re no longer a rare face on sportscasts, but that ubiquity has its price. Hot on the heels of Kelly Tilghman’s lynching episode, ESPN’s Dana Jacobson thought it was a good idea to get trashed at the roast for her colleagues Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic and utter the following phrases: “F— Notre Dame,” “F— Touchdown Jesus” and finally “F— Jesus.” Something tells us the network won’t be putting that on any shirts soon. Well, maybe for USC games and Mosques overseas.
In any case, the network has given her the obligatory “two week vacation” to try to sort things out.

In a statement, Jacobson said, “I am sorry. My remarks about Notre Dame were foolish and insensitive. I respect all religions and did not mean anything derogatory by my poorly chosen words. I also deeply regret the embarrassment I’ve caused ESPN and Mike and Mike.

Um, have you heard their show? It takes a lot to embarrass those two shmoes.

“My actions at the roast were inappropriate and in no way represent who I am. I won’t make excuses for my behavior, but I do hope I can be forgiven for such a poor lack of judgment.”

Nah, it’s going to take a lot more than that statement to cover for that boo-boo. “F Notre Dame” is a lack of judgment, but something we’ve all muttered at sometime. “F Jesus,” well, that’s not for lack of balls, we’ll give her that.
