Inter Milan winger Luis Figo has alluded to calling it quits at the end of the year unless “the right offer comes up,” i.e. big bucks in America. The 36 year old veteran broke his leg, and apparently his will, in November and has been recuperating steadily, but has vowed that this may be the end of the line. Cue MLS lobbyists.

The idea of Figo making a switch to Stateside soccer isn’t new, but the idea is as foreign as Figo playing in Saudi Arabia. He’s already pulled out of a deal with Saudi club Al-Ittihad proving that some of these European elite–besides sellouts like David Beckham–actually want to continue competing in substantial leagues. We wouldn’t mind Luis Figo stopping by The Home Depot Center, or sweating his ass off in Houston, or seeing him on a TMZ video once a week walking his dog with unbelievably gorgeous wifey Helen Sveden (Yowza!) if he moves to New York City. It would be nice..and the paparazzi would appreciate it. Because that’s all the MLS wants: no quality, just flashing bulbs and people screaming.
