The old-timers are all up on our grill today, but we don’t mind. Because when they are making news like legendary Mexican goal scorer Salvador Reyes, (All the old sports guys are legenday, aren’t they?), then we say keep it coming. Reyes is set to suit up and not die participate in this weekend’s Chivas/Pumas match. Gimmicks are cool? Sure. Old guys raising our anxiety because we don’t want to see anything tragic ruin our Saturday afternoon. Not so cool.
Reyes, all-time Chivas goal scorer with 122 goals, was a member of the ‘Campeonísmo’ era, a name referencing the golden age of the club in the 1960. [Reyes] will participate in this weekend’s game for a few minutes and then substituted…
Mexican international Omar Bravo will enter in “Chava” Reyes’ place, symbolizing the historic era with the present era of the club.
We’d never like to think about the worst case scenario, but you can’t really help and wonder if those two to four minutes on the pitch will be entirely uneventful. Will the old man take off down the middle, everyone scared to defend or tackle him, and put a shot on goal that gets him an ear full of insults from Pumas’ goalie? Make is so, football gods. Just don’t let the guy croke out there. Please.
