Live television can really put a sports telecaster in a bind. Kelly Tilghman is the main play-by-play announcer for the Golf Channel’s PGA coverage. She’s the first women to ever head a the play-by-play of a major men’s sports channel. She’s also a raging dumbass. During Sunday’s coverage of some PGA event we could care less about, Tilghman had a monumental brain fart by directing her attention to Tiger Woods…um…just read on:

Golf Channel anchor Kelly Tilghman has apologized after saying during Friday’s telecast of the PGA Tour’s opening event that today’s young players should “lynch Tiger Woods in a back alley.”

She did specify she was directing the comment to Tiger Woods’ Sri Lankian half of his identity, but that really didn’t fly. Our guess: she was aiming to join that other exclusive club of men’s premier sportscasting.

Tilghman was simply following in the footsteps of some of the most recognized sportscasters of all time.
Howard Cosell calls Washington Redskins Alvin Garrett a “little monkey.”

  • It’s true he called EVERYONE a “little monkey”, but you know it was all going to blow up in his face at some point.

Don Imus is perplexed by the “nappy headed hos.”

  • Maybe he was just trying to be hip? Didn’t work Don.

Jimmy “The Greek” Snyder evaluates African American athletes

  • “The black is a better athlete to begin with because he’s been bred to be that way — because of his high thighs and big thighs that goes up into his back, and they can jump higher and run faster because of their bigger thighs. This goes back all the way to the Civil War when during the slave trading, the owner — the slave owner would breed his big black to his big woman so that he could have a big black kid.” What did people expect from a Las Vegas bookie?
  • No word on Kelly Tilghman’s future with the network, but 2/3 of that list above were canned within days. If she gets lonely, she can always call Dan LeBatard for company.
