The Chicago Cubs are taking steps to modernize Wrigley Field in order to direct some more revenue into their decrepit organization stadium.
The Chicago Cubs have received permission to add 70 “bullpen box seats” along the third base line at Wrigley Field, and install additional signage inside the park.
The city of Chicago on Thursday gave permission for the changes despite the 93-year-old ballpark’s landmark status.
Peter Scales of the city’s Department of Planning and Development said the changes were approved because “landmark buildings aren’t frozen in time, need to be maintained and can be improved while respecting their history.”
We’re going to take the Las Vegas route on this one and recommend the Cubs find themselves a new owner and rig Wrigley with two tons worth of dynamite (we’re not sure if that’s too much or too little so don’t even dare comment on it) and take that stadium to the ground. When the Cubs win the pennant the following season, you can send us a thank you card for demolishing one of those stupid baseball curses as well.
