Even though the states that have banned MMA competitions reaches double digits, the sport is now heading to primetime. CBS is hoping to ride a wave of popularity that’s been seemingly building forever and show ProElite-branded MMA fights starting in May, and three more times throughout the year. Plus, they’ve promised not to tone down the violence. Let’s see how long that lasts. We personally give it a Janet Jackson-titty’s chance in hell before the FCC makes them tone everything down, including Kimbo Slice’s anger.

CBS would broadcast its MMA matches as they are already presented on Showtime, with no special rules or alterations to tone down the level of violence.

“It is a sport, and it has violent elements. So does football, so does hockey,” Kahl said. “If an injury does happen, we’ll try to treat it as tactfully and tastefully as we can. But it’s not something we’re going to hype.”

Yeah, of course they’re not going to hype the fact a guy could have his bones poking out of his body any second. We’re pretty sure they’re not paying big bucks to televise muscle-bound fighters hitting each other with pillows. Co-eds, maybe… hey, wait. Get us CBS on the phone. We have an idea for those football-less Sundays.
