Real Madrid are reportedly prepared to offer Manchester United midfielder Cristiano Ronaldo a staggering £8m-a-year deal to tempt him away from Old Trafford.
The Spanish league leaders are desperate to land the Portuguese star and are willing to pay him £160,000 a week - making him the highest paid player in the world, according to the Daily Star.
The 23-year-old only signed a new £120,000-a-week five-year deal with the Red Devils this time last year and United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has regularly insisted he wants his playmaker to stay.
But Madrid president Ramon Calderon said over the weekend at a fans forum: “To sign Cristiano Ronaldo is a dream, but it is not impossible.”
