The Florida Marlins have turned into the Bad News Bears as of late. Besides looking for fat dudes to don their sexiest cheerleading attire, the Marlins should be looking out for a reliable starter after Sergio Mitre, in his first appearance of the Spring Training season, decided to turn gimp and hurt his elbow after three batters.
‘It just came out of nowhere,” Mitre said at Fort Lauderdale Stadium.
If only Marlins’ fans would be as reliable as injuries. O-o-o-h.
The Marlins, who staggered through the 2007 season with one crippling injury after another to the starting staff, are now faced with the potential of starting this season without the rotation’s only confirmed right-hander.
”Can’t call it an injury yet,” Mitre said as he tried to remain optimistic. “I don’t know what it is us. I’m sure the doctor will move it around, twist it, turn it — whatever they do.”
We feel for the guy. We once went blind for an hour or so after our ninth beer bong attempt, but we were reluctant to panic. Today, we have one of the finest walking sticks money can buy. Totally worth it.
