We were certain those “19-0″ shirts the Patriots’ were confident they were going to wear would end up in the hands of charity. It’s about time they did. Nicaragua was the grand-prize winner and now young boys and girls are wondering why a mathematical equation is imprinted on their new, favorite shirt.
Instead, the T’s - with “19-0″ printed on them - were placed on pallets hours after the game and donated by the NFL to the World Vision charity. Yesterday, the group unloaded its first shipment.
The recipients were the smiling children at a school in the San Gregorio neighborhood in the town of Diriamba.
The 290 shirts and caps with the Pats logo were handed out by aid workers.
“We are very grateful,” said Tesarlia Flores, principal of the town’s school.
See, Boston? Cheer up. A lot of good came from that loss. Now prep yourself for this to happen with the Celtics and the Red Sox and you’ll be championing the cause to clothe poor children across the globe.
