Night Of The Living NHL Purse Snatchers

It’s just the NHL’s luck that during the lull of the sports season, when it’s their chance to shine, their two most memorable incidents so far are a vicious neck slashing and now players stealing purses. Ryan O’Byrne and Tom Kostopoulos, players on the Montreal Canadiens, were arrested yesterday for swiping a woman’s bag from a bar in Tampa and resisting arrest without violence. Huh, apparently you’re not so tough when you’re off the ice and facing a dude with a gun.
The incident started when a woman set her purse on the counter top, according to the police report. She noticed it was missing and allerted the bouncers. They saw O’Byrne outside with the woman’s purse in one hand and her cellphone in the other.
O’Byrne told police it was his girlfriend’s purse, but police determined it was the woman’s, according to the report. He was detained and placed in the back of a police car. According to police, $20 was missing from the woman’s purse.
Maybe O’Byrne was just looking for some cash to donate to the Richard Zednik “stitch the neck up” fund. Those NHL players, always so misguidedly helpful to each other. Rock stupid, but really helpful.
