Own A Piece Of Super Bowl XXXI History, Brought To You By Ron Cox
5 February 2008, 3:45 PM. By Alejandro de la Cruz
You must really be down and out if, as a former football player, you resort to relinquishing a valuable symbol of perfection like a Super Bowl ring. Unfortunately for Ron Cox (the person in charge of blacking out his name performed pitifully) of the 1996/1997 Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers, his idea of legacy is without definition. For only $49,999.99, you could be the proud owner of a disowned piece of Super Bowl lore, fit with diamonds, gold, Super Bowl XXXI insignia and everything.
A dazzling array of 115 authentic diamonds forms the central “G” motif, as well as comprises the four borders. Raised lettering flanking this display reads, “WORLD CHAMPIONS.” On one side, the ring exhibits “PACKERS - 1996 - TRADITION,” and on the opposing shank, the player’s last name and the player’s number border a detailed representation of Green Bay Packers helmet.
You can even get a 90-day payment plan if you’re credit isn’t on the fritz. Do soccer players ever do anything of this nature with their championship hardware? Is this kosher in the sports world? What do you guys think?
