Pedro Martinez Enjoys Cock Fights

New York Met’s ace pitcher Pedro Martinez isn’t one to shy away from controversy. How could a guy who tried to beat up New York Yankees bench coach Don Zimmer, a 147 year old man, ever feel ashamed of anything for the rest of his life? He simply can’t. The shit has hit the perennial fan at that point and basically, you’re on easy street from here on out. So, it should come to no surprise that Pedro Martinez is involved in another controversy.

This time: Martinez was seen in a video (the video has since been removed from YouTube) participating in cock fighting (settle down dude who likes dudes) in his native Dominican Republic. Doesn’t he know admired athletes partaking in the slaughtering of animals isn’t cool? Grab a newspaper, meng!

A video of New York Mets pitcher Pedro Martinez and Hall of Famer Juan Marichal at a cockfight has been posted on YouTube this week.
Martinez and Marichal laugh before releasing the roosters. The two took part as honorary “soltadores (sohl-tah-DOHR’-ays),” the word used to describe the person who puts the animal to fight.
Cockfighting is legal and popular in the Dominican Republic.

And everywhere else that PETA hasn’t clamped it’s claws. Listen, Pee-dro. We know you’ll be stunned by the hype. You’ll say “gwat deed I do?” and smirk. And then your PR rep will say, “tell them you’ll never do it again.” At this point you’ll be so confused as to why this is news that you’ll never want to leave New York again.
