Legendary Brazilian striker Romario must be a wonderful boyfriend. Two months after testing positive for banned substances (thanks to his thinning hair), Romario is lashing out at the powers that be for not overturning their suspension. The reason? Because after all he’s done for Brazilian soccer, they should do him a solid and forget that he completely cheated. No word on if he sent them a box of chocolates and a mix tape apology, too.
Romario, 42, was suspended for 120 days in December after testing positive for the banned substance Finasteride after Vasco da Gama’s league game against Palmeiras on Oct. 28. Romario said he had used the hair-loss medicine Propecia, which contains Finasteride.
On Friday, the player-coach said he would retire next month if the suspension isn’t lifted.
“My contract goes until March 30,” Romario told Pele’s Web site. “I hope I can play by then, if people are sensible and respect me for all I’ve done. If not, I can’t play any more.”
It hard to think that he didn’t use this tactic on all the girls he cheated on before. “Yeah, sure I cheated with that girl from the video store, but if you can’t remember when we took that trip to Buenos Aries and all those Guaranas I bought you, then it’s your fault this can’t work.”
