Mike Tyson may hold the craziest non-sense a boxer has ever spewed out of his mouth award for his soundbyte against Lennox Lewis in 1997, but boxer Bernard Hopkins is definitely on his heels. During the press interview with Joe Calzaghe, Hopkins decided to knock the cap off of crazy via comments that make you say, “Of course he just said that. He’s a 43 year-old boxer that looks like his face was flattened on a sweaty yoga mat for weeks at a time.”

Joe Calzaghe has been warned he “better be willing to die” by Bernard Hopkins ahead of their 19 April light-heavyweight contest in Las Vegas.
Hopkins repeatedly said the phrase to Calzaghe when the two men staged the traditional face off following a press conference on Tuesday.
“I feel in an executioner mood,” said Hopkins, who addressed the media wearing a black hood.

That’s just the kind of quote boxing needs. For a sport that lacks any credibility, a boxer threatening death to his opponent could bring boxing back to the days when athletes would pummel each other until they were knocked unconscious for days. It’s a good thing the mafia and bookies will settle this bout.
