Watching A Dodgers Game Standing Up Sounds Horrible

When news first erupted that the Los Angeles Dodgers were to face off with the Boston Red Sox in preseason action at the Coliseum, people were ecstatic. So much so that 90,000 tickets to the game sold out immediately. Owner Frank McCourt and his money mongers got together and decided to allocate another 25,000 tickets to fans, which will culminate in a new record for attendance at the Coliseum. Yippee, right? Wrong. The majority of the extra 25,000 tickets are standing room only and if there’s one thing we’re totally against is standing for four hours, in the sun, drunk and watching baseball.
Many of the additional tickets will be standing-room only, with people allowed to stand under the arches at the peristyle end and on the grass behind the right-field wall. Tickets also will be sold for peristyle seats.
Ticket prices had been scaled from $25 to $15. Some of the standing-room tickets will have a face value of $10.
And a free beer. Tell us there’s going to be a free beer; or a Dodger dog included; or even one of those disgusting sushi rolls Chavez Ravine is selling these days. Hopefully we’ll get the fans edition of this.
