Soccer-related violence is sparking its way down the South American continent as Argentina got into the act, a mere two weeks after the Colombian fans decided to also get stabby at a game. Almost 200 fans were arrested during a weekend of violence that saw a bus full of Velez Sarsfield supporters shot at on Saturday, which killed one, and a Boca Juniors fan stabbed at the hands of a fellow Juniors fan on Sunday. Come on, at least let your fellow fans off the hook–ape shall not kill ape, gentlemen.

Sunday’s trouble began as Boca supporters prepared to board a convoy of buses taking them to an away match against Huracan. A police spokesman said fighting broke out between rival fans of the Boca supporters club known as The 12 in the district of La Boca. Around 100 officers, 20 police cars and a helicopter were needed to bring the situation under control, Eduardo Meta said.

“The injured man is out of danger …. the situation is totally controlled,” Meta told reporters. “The important thing is that everyone involved in this incident has been arrested. Nobody got away.”

Maybe, but the soccer riot train keeps chugging along—next stop, Chile. Churrascos and bullets will be flying everywhere!
