Chelsea Only Likes Foreigners On The Pitch, Not In The Stands

We’re the last people who need to be given an explanation of why rival fans need to be separated, but EPL team Chelsea may have to explain this. They’ve banned anyone with a Greek surname from buying tickets online to their upcoming Champions League home match against Olympiakos. Apparently the Greeks were buying tickets in the Blues’ home section, and the team feared they’d start a riot… or serve a wonderful Pastitsio. We’re going with the former.
Chelsea fan Peter Pakos paid 100 pounds (US$199; euro131) for two tickets for the second-round match at Stamford Bridge via the club’s official website, but was later sent an e-mail canceling the order.
“It’s incredible discrimination,” Pakos said. “It’s shortsighted and clumsy. We may have a Greek background, but we’re Chelsea fans through and through.”
Well, too bad. You have to be totally English to enjoy a team whose roster is 75% foreign-born and owned by a Russian oil baron.
