It’s every die-hard fan’s dream: dedicate your death to that pitiful team you cheered for your entire life. We hear of fans who are buried in jerseys. Some take their autographed memorabilia to the grave. Others want their ashes spread along the dugouts of Chavez Ravine so they can feel, at least in death, what it’s like to be on the field. We can dream, can’t we? Spanish soccer club Espanyol aren’t taking the loyalty of their fans lightly. They’ve planned to allow 20,000 of their most devout (and wealthy) fans the opportunity to cheer their Catalan fever, forever!

“Football clubs today don’t depend as much on their results as on the sentimental link they build with their fans,” Espanyol director general Pedro Tomas was quoted as saying in sports daily Marca on Thursday.
Media reports say devoted supporters can expect to pay around 4,000 euros per niche, for a 15-year period from the deposit of their first urn.

Translation: we don’t care if we keep losing as long as we have you, overzealous fan who doesn’t know any better.
