Liverpool Boss Rafa Benitez Doesn’t Care About Your Girlfriend’s Pregnancy

Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso had a rude awakening this evening when it was reported he would be banished from Liverpool’s Champions League match against Inter Milan because he was staying in England to be with his pregnant girlfriend…who happens to be bursting from the loins. Rafa Benitez didn’t mince any words when he basically told Alonso that he’d pay for his decision:

‘He wanted to come out here but only if everything was okay.
‘We could not wait and had to make a decision. You cannot wait and wait and wait for any player. There comes a time when you have to decide and make use of your squad.’

Alonso only recently returned to Liverpool’s starting line-up after falling out of favour earlier in the season and now looks to have tested Benitez’s patience once too often.

The cold, hard facts: Rafa Benitez skipped out on his father’s funeral in 2005 because the death occurred during the World Club Cup Championships in Japan and you can’t miss that. Xavi better snip that umbilical chord and hurry it up.
