There were high hopes for the Miami Heat in 2007/2008, but the season spiraled almost immediately when the Heat went 2-8 in their first ten games. Then, they managed to lose 15 games in a row in a stretch that witnessed only one victory in 27 games. Dwayne Wade played hurt and Shaquille O’Neil stayed fat and Pat Riley added more pomade to his hair with each loss. Yet–with the steady decline, Shaq trade and Dwayne Wade’s brittle body– Heat fans maintained their dedication and loyalty to the team. Um, why?
Ernie Padilla and his friend Flea, who declines to give his real name, are standing in line at the Fuegos Grill in the concourse outside Section 117. Padilla says he’s a loyal Heat fan, which is a big reason he’s at this game. But he adds he also is a loyal fan of the ladies, which is a bigger reason he’s at the game.
”Bro, the bottom line is there are some hotties up in this place,” Padilla said. “Look, I met my last two girls at Heat games. And when the last one cut me loose, I felt bad for a couple of weeks but you got to get back in the groove, you know?
Totally. You gotta get back on the rebound because you’ll be sitting on the sidelines watching everyone else play if you don’t move on with your life and get with the action. Did you see what we did there with rebound? Of course sports arenas are meat markets. Ever seen a cholo try to pick up at a Lakers game? Keep a look out next time you’re at a game.
