Straight out of the “fucked up” files comes news that Peruvian Division I soccer club players from Cienciano were mugged at gun point on pay day. There weren’t any injuries, only broken hearts responding to the harsh truth that playing in Peru is now officially a screwed up situation.
Several players of Peruvian top-flight team Cienciano Cusco were threatened with guns by robbers as they received their pay at the club headquarters, the players said Thursday. Three armed and masked men stormed on Wednesday into club premises in the Magisterio neighbourhood of Cusco, as several players were getting paid. In the presence of nine football players, the alleged criminals reportedly took off with 90,000 dollars.
“We were in serious danger,” said Cienciano veteran Juan Carlos Bazalar.
The most dramatic moment in the attack happened as Bazalar and Carlos Solis tried to escape. The attackers aimed their weapons at them, but they abstained from firing at the players’ request, according to reports.
Adding insult to injury is the fact that $90,000 is the amount David Beckham uses to wipe his arse. It’s a mad, mad world.
