The world can’t escape the guillotine grasp of mixed martial arts. Now that CBS is onboard to showcase face-wrecking elbow jousts on national television, it was only a matter of time until athletic sponsors joined the hysteria. Nike is now reaching out to ego-rrific maniac Quinton “Rampage” Jackson to partake in an ad campaign titled “Human Chain.” Damn, the “Junkyard Dog” would have been perfect for this.

“Quinton Jackson will join LeBron James and other star athletes this weekend in Los Angeles to film a Nike commercial dubbed ‘Human Chain’…. The spot, featuring a premise of ‘overachieving with victory, getting knocked down and getting back up,’ said Jackson’s trainer Juanito Ibarra, will be the second Nike ad to showcase a mixed martial artist. Randy Couture (Pictures) became the first in a 1996 spot called ‘Scars’ that featured close-ups of his famously cauliflowered ears.”

Further proof that bludgeoning people’s faces in the 21st Century is totally hip. Now, we know Oscar is too big for an ad like this, but he’d be perfect for Nike’s premise: boxing career on the fritz, but his bank account is skyrocketing. It’s, like, symbolic and all.
