I’m-not-a-woman-racer-I’m-a-person-racer Danica Patrick overcame 500 miles of circular madness this weekend and became the first women in the history of IndyCar racing to cross the finish line at the top. We would have taken the time to sit and watch the race but there wasn’t a telecast we were aware of. And then there’s that whole we’d rather read back issues of AdBusters mag thing that got in the way as well. Danica, on her 50th try, has finally silenced male-bashers who said she wasn’t good enough to be a part of their prestigious crew. Or as legendary racer Michael Andretti put it:

“I’m thrilled for her that the monkey is finally off of her back,” Andretti told Indycar.com. “We have all believed in her and she proved that she is a winner. Frankly, I think this is the first of many.”

Yes. Get all of those feces spouting, noisy, uncivil primates off of her sultry back. He is talking about animals and not the male racers who dogged her career since 2005, right?
